We have seen that neither Government, nor the Mainstream Media, nor the Social Media giants, nor the Educational System, nor the Health Care Industry can be trusted to tell the Truth. But that is not all by any means. It is likely that fewer people (and among them, Christians) realize that the agricultural/food industry, with its close ties to governmental authority, cannot be trusted either. Consider the following post on ethics issues facing the food-production industry as of 2019:
7 Biggest Ethical Issues Facing the Agricultural IndustryPosted by Administrator on Jul 10, 2019Ethics might not be the first thing you think of when you think of agriculture, but there are quite a few ethics issues facing the agricultural industry. From the growing of food to questionable actions in the name of staying competitive, ethics comes up often.
Of course, there are ways to improve agricultural ethics. It just means doing what’s right instead of just focusing on what’s most profitable.1. Safety of FoodThis is probably the one the general public knows the most about. It involves food that may be contaminated anywhere during the process. This includes from the growing phase to when it’s put out for the public to buy. Taking shortcuts or using questionable additives makes food unsafe. However, recalls aren’t uncommon, especially with produce. In fact, food recalls are up by 10% since 2013.3. Use of ChemicalsThe use of pesticides and other chemicals has been an ongoing debate. Farmers want to use chemicals to reduce pests and increase production. However, those same chemicals have been known to cause health issues. Plus, pesticides are killing off native species, such as the honeybees that help with pollination.5. SustainabilityAn issue that’s just begun to come to light, at least for the general public, is sustainability. Agricultural businesses that ruin the land, have chemical run-off in local water sources and inadvertently harm wildlife don’t help to sustain the business or the environment. Without a healthy environment, the future of food production is at risk, especially as populations continue to rise 6. Trade AgreementsGrowing and raising food is one thing, but selling it is another. Ethics issues are all too common when it comes to trade agreements in the agricultural industry. Bribes to sell more or to ensure businesses pick one farm over another do happen. Many trade rules are questionable and push out smaller businesses that may actually have more to offer. [1]
This critique is quite mild-mannered in its approach. There are far more scathing critiques available. One might simply search "Monsanto" on the internet. Because there is more money to be made, law-makers and agricultural/food industry big shots stand ready to sacrifice the health and well-being of millions of people. When we bring into this picture the previously-discussed pharmaceutical/government ties, the dangerous policies in the food industry/government relationship makes the “take” for law-makers even greater. They make big bucks from the lobbyists for "Big Agri" (Monsanto, etc.) whose products continually contribute to long-term illness. Then, they make even bigger bucks through the lobbyists for "Big Pharma" as the sick people go to the health care system for medicine, etc. None of this even brings into the picture the "insider trading" lawmakers use to get filthy rich in the stock market, since they know in advance what laws are going to be passed that boost the stocks of Agri and Pharma corporations. It is a very lucrative racket.
Finally, there is the Entertainment Industry. No one in his right mind could possibly overlook the rampant corruption in this big business. What you see is NOT what you get when it comes, for example, to the big business of Sports entertainment.
In an article published over twelve years ago, Bleacher Report, a respected source for the Truth in Sports, identified the top twenty-five well-known names associated with sports across the board whose public image was ruined because of serious corruption charges. Among them:
1. Pete Rose Professional Baseball Player
2. Barry Switzer College Football Coach
3. Sammy Sosa Professional Baseball Player
4. John Calipari College Basketball Coach
5. Olympique De Marseille Professional Soccer (men) Team
6. Tim Donaghy NBA Referee
7. Clem Haskins College Basketball Coach
8. Barry Bonds Professional Baseball Player
9. Tonya Harding Professional Ice Skater
10. Alan Eagleson Professional Hockey Player’s Agent
11. Chicago White Sox (1919) Professional Baseball Team[2]
The article is not very long, but it is very enlightening in its broad-ranging indictment of Sports Entertainment and its deep corruption. Any serious consideration of the rest of the entertainment industry reveals even more disturbing corruption with a broader array of the darkest sins of fallen man on open display. We have grown so accustomed to all of this that it happens right before our eyes, and we choose to not really “see” it. We have become deadened to it.
